Versatile foresters’ axe
The Pulaski Axe is a versatile tool originally designed by heroic Forest Service ranger Ed Pulaski, way back in the early 1900s. It was a specialist axe developed to fight blazing wildfires in the USA. It not only chops wood, but also has a flat mattock blade for cutting through tree roots and digging trenches or firebreaks. Today, this style of axe is still widely favoured for its strength and multi-purpose capabilities. Barebones’ modern reinterpretation is faithful to the original design but has a modern 1055 high carbon steel head to ensure excellent edge-holding ability. The wooden handle has a solid steel core, which not only secures the head with a tightening hex bolt but also adds strength for trenching and rooting jobs. The axe also features a heavy-duty steel pommel end, which can be used for hammering. In short, there’s no more versatile tool for camp or garden work.
