Versatile filter for outdoor life

The great outdoors is a big place, and your adventures can take you almost anywhere. That means the most intrepid types need a water filter for all conditions – from clear-running mountain streams of uncertain origin to dirty, turbid puddles. The award-winning Katadyn Vario is a versatile filter that easily adjusts to different environments and water sources. It is able to eliminate bacteria, protozoa, cysts, algae, spores and sediments, while also reducing chemical contamination and improving water taste and odour. How? By employing multi-stage filtration in the form of a replaceable activated carbon granulatein conjunction with a cleanable ceramic dirt shield and a fibreglass stage for microbiological filtration, with minimal pump resistance. You can also switch it from ‘longer life’ to ‘faster flow’ mode. For turbid water, use the first setting to prefilter through the ceramic disk, giving a flow rate of approximately 1 litre per minute. For cleaner-running sources, the water can be directed straight to the fibreglass membrane, increasing the water flow to up to 2L/min. A dual piston mechanism ensures continuous water flow with minimal effort. The rubber base provides a secure stand and an integrated bottle thread fits directly on to wide mouth water bottles such as a standard Nalgene. The capacity is up to 2,000 litres, depending on the water quality, and at the of their lifespan the filters are completely replaceable.
